Cookie Customers

As girls arrive we will have them draw a picture of themselves selling Girl Scout cookies. If they finish their drawing they can work on a cookie word search. Once all girls arrive we’ll stand up for the pledge of allegiance and girl scout promise.

Group Project: Goal Setting

1) Small group discussion

We will divide girls into 4 small groups of 4 or 5. Each group will be led by a leader. First, each girl uses the worksheet below to come up with their unique cookie seller name, and writes it on a name tag. Next we will have the girls brainstorm ideas for these three goals:

  • Troop cookie sale goal (how many cookies should we sell?) Vote so each group agrees on one number.

  • Brainstorm what to do with money earned from cookie sales (how do we celebrate our hard work?)

  • Bonus: brainstorm troop community service ideas (how can we help our community?)

2) Group vote

We will come together as one group, and begin by taste testing the new cookie, Exploremores. As we taste the cookie, we will ask the groups to share the number of cookies each group thinks we should sell. Then we will vote and that will be our troop goal. We don’t have to decide on community service and cookie sale money yet, those ideas can be handed in by the leaders and we will put them all on brainstorm boards for later..

Game: Cookie Riddles

If the Juniors are free they can help with this game. There will be illustrations of each cookie hung up around the room. We will break the girls back up into their small groups, and the Juniors/leaders will have a bag with the riddles below. The Junior reads one riddle aloud to their group, then girls should go stand by the cookie being described to get their next riddle. If a team solves all nine riddles, they win a small prize!

If there is time we can play Cookie Bingo, if not we will end the meeting after the riddle game. At the end of this meeting the girls will have earned the Cookie Customer badge (badge itself will be given out at the next meeting, it won’t arrive by 1/12)
