Imagination Awaits
Join us for a morning of creativity and books! Girls must register for the event
Soar Beyond Limits
Girl Scout Daisies and Brownies: explore the power of air as you design and test a colorful bird that takes flight in a wind tube during the museum's hands-on-aerodynamics program, Birds of a Feather. Afterward, take part in aviation-themed workshops that will ignite curiosity and expand your sense of what's possible in aviation.
Note: Girl Scouts must register and pay $25 in advance for the event, family members and siblings are free to join and explore the museum while Girl Scouts participate in the activities.
Me Time
As girls arrive, we will have an activity sheet, and plates of fruit and veggies for snacking.
Once all girls arrive we will stand and say the Girl Scout Promise, Pledge of Allegiance, then explain the badge we are working on. With the Me Time badge, girls will talk about how moving our bodies, eating healthy, and doing things to calm our mind are important for self care.
Activity 1: Breath Like a Bear
We can begin by reading the first page of the book, Breath like a Bear. Next, we will have the girls spread out their yoga mats or towels, and sit together on the floor. We will sit up straight, then practice 3 or 4 of the breathing exercises from the book.
Activity 2: Self Care
Once we have finished the breathing exercises we will take care of our skin, we’ll do face masks and cucumber slices on our eyes (just for fun)
Activity 3: Self Care Bingo!
We’ll end our meeting with a self care Bingo game!
At the end of the meeting we’ll hand out badges. Girls will receive the Create and Innovate badge (that had been backordered) the Me Time badge, and those who attended International Night and volunteered at cookie booths will receive those fun patches.
Create and Innovate
As girls arrive, we will have them think about what type of business they might want to run one day. If they could own a company, what would it be called, what would the company do? What would the logo look like? Then they can draw a picture of themselves at work, and come up with their own uniforms or outfits to wear to work (or school or even girl scouts!)
Once all girls arrive we’ll rise to say the Girl Scout Promise and pledge of allegiance. Then, we’ll ask them to define CREATE (to make something) and INNOVATE (to change something that already exists, and think of ways to make something better.)
Project 1: Package design
First we will have girls consider something they can create (make or invent) or innovate (change to make better.) Once they have come up with their idea, we will have them design packaging for their creation. We will have flat sheets of paper that they can design with the name of their object or invention, along with colorful drawings. Then, they will help them glue their design around the box that holds their creation.
Project 2: Create
After girls come up with their invention and create the packaging, we’ll have them sculpt their objects out of colorful dough.
At the end of this meeting the Brownies will have earned their Create and Innovate badge. (Note this badge is backordered, we will provide as soon as the badges become available)
Ice Skating
Join us for an evening of ice skating and cocoa at Grant Park rink in Hewlitt. Permission slips will be passed out in December, and should be returned to a leader with RSVP no later than 1/12/26. Fees will be paid by dues, no payment needed.
Cookie Customers
As girls arrive we will have them draw a picture of themselves selling Girl Scout cookies. If they finish their drawing they can work on a cookie word search. Once all girls arrive we’ll stand up for the pledge of allegiance and girl scout promise.
Group Project: Goal Setting
1) Small group discussion
We will divide girls into 4 small groups of 4 or 5. Each group will be led by a leader. First, each girl uses the worksheet below to come up with their unique cookie seller name, and writes it on a name tag. Next we will have the girls brainstorm ideas for these three goals:
Troop cookie sale goal (how many cookies should we sell?) Vote so each group agrees on one number.
Brainstorm what to do with money earned from cookie sales (how do we celebrate our hard work?)
Bonus: brainstorm troop community service ideas (how can we help our community?)
2) Group vote
We will come together as one group, and begin by taste testing the new cookie, Exploremores. As we taste the cookie, we will ask the groups to share the number of cookies each group thinks we should sell. Then we will vote and that will be our troop goal. We don’t have to decide on community service and cookie sale money yet, those ideas can be handed in by the leaders and we will put them all on brainstorm boards for later..
Game: Cookie Riddles
If the Juniors are free they can help with this game. There will be illustrations of each cookie hung up around the room. We will break the girls back up into their small groups, and the Juniors/leaders will have a bag with the riddles below. The Junior reads one riddle aloud to their group, then girls should go stand by the cookie being described to get their next riddle. If a team solves all nine riddles, they win a small prize!
If there is time we can play Cookie Bingo, if not we will end the meeting after the riddle game. At the end of this meeting the girls will have earned the Cookie Customer badge (badge itself will be given out at the next meeting, it won’t arrive by 1/12)
Reindeer Games
Brownie Troop 2568 will join together to celebrate our last official meeting of 2025! As girl arrive we’ll have a Christmas coloring sheet:
Once all girls arrive we’ll stand for pledge of allegiance and Girl Scout Promise. Next, we’ll dive into some crafts and games.
Craft: Pipe Cleaner Mini Trees
For our first Christmas Craft we will pass out small pipe cleaner trees that the girls can decorate with pom-poms and beads to take home.
Group Project: Girl Scout Law Christmas Tree + gift exchange
Next, we will decorate a large paper Christmas Tree (this will hang up flat tree on wall) with the Girl Scout Promise and the Girl Scout Laws. We will pass out paper ornaments, each with parts of the Girl Scout Law and Girl Scout Promise written on the front. Once each girl hangs her ornament, she can choose a small gift to open and take home.
Reindeer Game
We’ll end the meeting with a Reindeer Game! Have girls pick a partner, stand across from them and try to throw rings at each other’s antlers.
Girls can take these home with them, and will have earned a Reindeer Game fun patch.
December 1st Meeting
Memorial Sloan Kettering Toy Drive
As girls arrive, we will collect donated gifts for pediatric patients at Memorial Sloan Kettering. Once all girls arrive, we’ll stand together to say pledge of allegiance, the Girl Scout Promise, and go over our Brownie meeting rules. For the first half of the meeting we’ll work on making holiday cards to donate along with gifts. For the second half of the meeting we will finish our Outdoor Art Creators badge:
Outdoor Art Creators - Part 2
Brownies will be completing two final steps to earn their Outdoor Art Creator badge.
Craft: Create Music Outdoors!
We will be passing out supplies for girls to create outdoor wind chimes: leaf shapes, metal chimes, string, bells, and beads.
Homework: Nature Detective Checklist!
Towards the last 15 minutes of the meeting, leaders will pass out white cardboard tubes for the girls to decorate and take home. These cardboard tubes will be used as DIY telescopes!
As girls are packing up to leave, we will pass out the Outdoor Nature Detective checklist and ask that the girls complete the scavenger hunt with a parent or grandparent on an outdoor walk at some point over the winter, along with finding a space to hang their wind chimes outside.
We’ll end the meeting with the friendship circle and pass out Outdoor Art Creator badges.

Outdoor Art Creator
10/20 Meeting Agenda
As girls arrive, we’ll have an Outdoor Art Creator word search.
Once all girls arrive, we’ll say the pledge of allegiance and the girl scout promise.
Meeting Rules
After the girl scout promise we will gather girls to sit on the rug.
We plan to go over Brownie meeting rules with the girls (respect the space, respect each other, respect the leaders)
We’ll ask girls if they have any other ideas that will keep us safe
At the end of the chat we’ll explain the first activity to earn our Outdoor Art Creator patch: leaf art!
Craft: Leaf Rubbings
Have you ever really looked at a leaf? Look closely. What do you see? It has veins, a stern, and it’s own unique shape. It’s like nature made it’s own work of art.
To prepare for this activity we will ask girls to gather a few whole leaves they find in their yard before the meeting.
We will pass out sheets of paper and crayons.
We’ll demonstrate how to make a leaf rubbing by laying a leaf on a peace of paper, laying another piece of paper on top, then gently rubbing a crayon over the paper until the leaf’s features appear.
Ask brownies: What art could you make with your leaf rubbings?
Show examples of things they can do with their leaf rubbings (cut them out and put them on a card, for example.)
Craft: Leaf Creature Art
If there is time for another craft, or if some girls finish the leaf rubbing activity early…
Materials: leaves, glue, paper, black pens, googly eyes
Girls can choose leaves to glue down on their paper, then add legs, arms, and eyes to give their characters life.
We’ll end the meeting by cleaning up and the Brownie friendship circle.
Home Scientist
10/6 Meeting agenda:
As girls arrive, we’ll have women in STEM coloring sheets.
Once girls all arrive we’ll stand to do the pledge of Allegiance and girl scout promise, then introduce special guest author Julia Sooy. Julia will read her book, Everyday Chemistry.
To earn the Home Scientist badge, the girls need to complete three steps: create static electricity, dive into density, and make something bubble up. We will divide the girls into 3 groups. The groups will rotate in between 3 tables for ten minutes each.
Group 1: Static Electricity
Make pepper dance. See what happens when electric charges jump back and forth.
Instructions:
We will pour some salt and pepper on paper plates. We’ll give each girl a blown up balloon, and have them rub it on their hair. Then, they will hold it over the salt and pepper and watch it dance!
What happens?
After you rub the balloon on your hair, it gets a negative charge. When you bring it close to the salt and pepper, the charge attracts the pepper first because it’s lighter than the salt. The pepper is attracted to the balloon, where it gets a negative charge, then it bounces back down to the paper.
Extra fun:
Use the same idea to make tissue paper figures dance!
Group 2: Dive into Density
Dancing Raisins. Can you make raisins move without touching them?
Instructions:
We will pour some 7-up in a tall glass. Then, drop 6 or 7 raisins into the soda and watch what happens.
What happens?
At first the raisins will sink. They are denser than the soda. But then, the bubbles from the soda will fill the wrinkles in the raisins, lifting them up. Then the bubbles reach the top and they pop, the raisins sink again.
Extra Fun: If there is time, we’ll try the floating an egg in salt water trick
Group 3: Bubble Up
Blow up a balloon without using your breath. Gases like carbon dioxide will try to find a place to go when they expand. When you mix certain materials, like vinegar and baking soda, you make a gas that will expand. (This might work better as partners)
Instructions:
We will have balloons filled with 1 tsp of baking soda. Each girl will take the balloon and with our help, attach it to the neck of a plastic bottle with 2tb of vinegar. We’ll instruct them to try to dump the baking soda down into the vinegar and watch what happens.
What happens?
The baking soda and vinegar create carbon dioxide when they mix. There is not enough room inside the bottle for the extra gas, so it will enter the balloon.
We’ll end the meeting by cleaning up, handing out badges, and the friendship circle. The girls have earned their Home Scientist badge!
Hempstead Lake Park: Bug Buddies
Scouts will uncover the world of bugs and insects through outdoor discovery, games, and artistic expression. Scouts will learn the important role that insects play in our environment and will be able to identify common insects.
Brownies will meet at 2pm at the Environmental Education and Resiliency Center.
Welcome Back!
Meeting Agenda:
As girls arrive, we’ll give them their brownie vests and pass out coloring sheet, along with a folder they can decorate with girl scout stickers.
Once all girls arrive, we will stand to say the Pledge of Allegiance and Girl Scout Promise
This year will introduce a “Kaper chart” and give girls jobs. Every meeting we will have one girl lead the pledge and another girl lead the promise, then two girls lead clean up after crafts (rolling the garbage cans around). We can keep track and go by alpha order by first name.
Next, we’ll have girls sit in a Brownie circle on the floor, and listen to the Brownie story.
WHAT IS A BROWNIE?
After we read the story, ask the girls, what is a Brownie?
ACTIVITY: Act out the story
We’ll bring out a round green rug, with a mirror in the middle to represent the pond. We’ll have the girls take turns playing the main characters. The girls will stand in two rows and connect hands at the top (they are the forest of trees, leading up to the mirror pond). Two at a time we call their names, each pair will pass through the forest (under the girls arms), then kneel by the edge of the pond, look inside and say:
“Twist me and turn me and show me the elf. I looked in the water and saw . . . myself!”
Once each girl has had their turn saying the brownie rhyme into the pond, they will receive their Brownie membership pin.
GAME:
First we clean up the tables, then we can play Brownie Bingo! (These are all patches that the Brownies can earn)
