As girls arrive, we’ll have them start with the Brownie “My Great Day” worksheet from the Brownie Experience box. They can make a list of things they do to start the day, this gets them thinking about info for the craft. (10m)
My Perfect Morning:
Once their list is complete, they can draw pictures of the things they need to do to get ready in the morning on a paper plate. We’ll have the pie-chart sections drawn on the plates in advance. Then we’ll help them make the "my perfect morning" spinner by connecting two plates with a grommet. They can take this home if they don’t finish. (15-20m)
Bedtime Routine Relay Race:
After the craft we can gather to do the promise, pledge, then explain the game: Relay race! It's a race to get ready for bed! This could be really chaotic but fun, we break the girls up into 5 groups of 5 (if we have over 25 girls we'll need to do 6 groups) Each group lines up by the stage (we might need small cones for this.) There will be 5 stations around the room. When we say go, the relay begins!
Girl # 1 from each group goes to station 1: hurries to set an alarm clock to 6:30 (I can make a bunch of giant cardboard clocks for this), then she runs back and high 5's girl #2.
Girl # 2 goes to station 2 to pack her bag for school (we’ll have backpacks, pencils, books). Then she puts on the backpack, runs back, and high five's girl #3.
Girl # 3 goes to station 3 to put on oversized PJs, then runs back to high five girl #4. '
Girl # 4 runs to station 4 and pretends to brush her teeth for 30 seconds (maybe we need to time this), then runs back to high five girl #5
Girl # 5 goes to get in bed (gets in a sleeping bag).
Whichever group completes all the tasks and their last girl gets in the sleeping bag first, that group is the winner.
Relaxing craft to take home:
We’ll end the meeting with this lavender bath salt craft, (from the brownie experience box). We give each girl a little plastic jar, they'll fill their little jar with epson salts and lavender, shake it up, put the lid on, then put it in a little satchel to take home. (10m)
Then if there is time we can teach the girls the Brownie smile song.
