Halloween Celebration

It’s a costume party! Juliette Gordon Lowe was born on Halloween. For this meeting we’ll have a Halloween party and learn a bit more about the founder of Girl Scouts.

Spiders!

As girls arrive we’ll be make spiders out of clay, pipe cleaners, beads, and googly eyes.

Once all girls arrive we’ll stand to do the girl scout promise and pledge of allegiance.

Next we’ll have the girls sit and listen to this short story about Juliette Gordon Lowe and play True of False game

🎃 Juliette Gordon Low:
True or False?

Have the girls stand up. Then we’ll read statements about Juliette Gordon from the story we read.

Explain:

• TRUE: Put your hands on your head.

• FALSE: Put your hands on your hips.

Next we’ll do a pumpkin scavenger hunt, we’ll have 18-20 paper pumpkins hanging on the walls around the room. Each girl should find and take only one pumpkin off the wall, there will be short facts about Juliette Gordon Lowe on the back of each pumpkin (or little challenge.)

We could have each girl take turns reading her pumpkin out loud, and doing the challenge or shouting out the the answer to the question. (Or if we are running behind they can take pumpkins home and we start in on the games!)

For the second half of the meeting we’ll play some Halloween games

Spider Web Challenge

Girls will stand in a circle. One girl holds the yarn, says something nice about another girl, and tosses the ball to her while holding on the the end. We’ll continue until everyone has a turn and they’ve made a giant web.

👻 Ghosts in the Graveyard Freeze Dance

Play Halloween music while everyone dances. When the music stops, yell “GHOST!” and everyone has to freeze in their best spooky pose. Anyone who moves just does a silly challenge rather than getting eliminated, such as “cackle like a witch,” “walk like a mummy,” or “fly like a bat.”

We’ll end the party with tiny cupcakes and the girls can punch the pumpkin to get their patches.
